Dressing Up For A Summer Wedding
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010So you’re going to a summer wedding. How exciting! We’re thinking pretty florals and yummy colors like pink, yellow and blue for outdoor and daytime weddings, but first of all, what does your invite say? Check out the dress code and determine the vibe of the wedding. This way, you can dress appropriately for the occasion – pretty, summery and perfect!

The Formal Wedding
Black Tie, White Tie — this is the cream of the wedding crop. For this occasion, a long gown is definitely in order. Remember, the goal is to look dazzling. A White Tie is the most formal of the formal wears. Outside of weddings, white tie means that a white dress is required, but not for weddings — unless it has been specified in your invite. You wouldn’t want to steal the show from the bride, would you?
Here’s a guide for the formal wedding: Think about what you might wear to the Oscars if you were nominated, to the opening night at the opera, or to the Presidential Inauguration. Since this will be a summer wedding, think gorgeous, flowing long gown in amazing, breathtaking prints. With beautiful makeup and the right accessories, you’re sure to make a great impression.
The Daytime/Casual Wedding
For a casual summer wedding, you don’t need to wear a long dress, really fancy jewelry or high heels, but you do need to look nice. Think pretty sundresses, day dresses, and wrap dresses. Nothing too flashy.
If the wedding takes place in a conservative setting such as a church, mosque, or synagogue, and you are wearing a sleeveless dress, make sure you have a shawl or sweater to cover your shoulders. To be safe, skip the short skirt, too.
Summer footwear for weddings</a> is fun – from stilettos, strappy sandals or summer wedges, as well as classic pumps, you have absolute freedom to pick the perfect shoe. If you are likely to be wearing the shoes from ceremony through the reception, then you may need to opt for wedges or platform heels, which are more forgiving on the feet. Plus, they give you more support on the dance floor! Carry some emergency flats and pop them on after the wedding ceremony, to give your feet a break.
Pick your perfect summer dress today. <a href=”http://www.tonybowls.com“>Tony Bowls</a> has a great selection of stunning designs for a summer wedding.
Springtime for Prints
Friday, April 30th, 2010There used to be a time when prints did not belong in the realm of formal evening wear. Prints and patterns were more associated with Sunday dresses while solid shimmering colors were best suited for evening events. The rules have changed. Whether it’s your senior prom or a random night, with a stunning, well chosen print, you can become the center of attention.
Flower Power
Spring season is at its peak right now. It is the perfect time to wear vivid colors and floral prints. Nothing can make you stand out more than a colorful floral print strategically placed on your gown. You can choose between smooth, shimmering painted silk (or a fabric akin to it), or even breezy layers of almost translucent printed fabric. Prints have different effects on these draping surfaces. Colors tend to pop with silky fabrics. Chiffon and other light fabrics, on the other hand, work great with pastel floral prints. A floral print can bring out a glow of youthfulness. You can glide across the hall with an emphasized feminine grace.
Paisley and Swirly Patterns
Whether it is a subtle stylized paisley print lining the edges of your gown, or a barrage of monochromatically hued circles and swirls scattered across your entire outfit, patterns like these can effortlessly draw eyes to the wearer’s general direction.

Faux Animal Textures
Animal prints are this season’s edgy fad print. Not many are able to pull off wearing a spotted or striped print during formal evening occasions, though. The trick is to find a piece that does not overdo it. A gown cut from a single bold tiger print fabric may look more tacky than stylish. If, however, the animal print is used as more of an accent rather than a focal point, it can produce a sophisticated and seductive look the entire room would be attracted to. The print may be used as the inner lining on a slit or an artfully hiked-up skirt. Animal prints are better scaled down rather than blown up as well. You may also want to pick an unconventional color, such as a purple zebra print on a cocktail dress.

Why Not Wear White?
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010While there always seems to be a good number of ladies wearing black in formal events, there would rarely be anyone in white. Some might think white is too bright a color for formal evening affairs. If it doesn’t look like a wedding gown, it can wash the wearer out into the background. The vulture-like fashion police, notoriously known for their unforgiving acerbic wit, might say they couldn’t tell where the gown ends and the table cloth begins.
This all begs the question, however: Why not wear white? Like any other color, with the right design and execution, it has the potential to look stunning and elegant. Just as white has the tendency to blend the wearer into background, which is a bad thing, it can also make her stand out as a visage of beauty and fashion-forward stylishness.

It’s All in the Details
Shine and shimmer are in this season, and white gowns are no exception. Tony Bowls takes it up a notch by creating designs with sparkling crystal embellishments tastefully incorporated in the bodice of the dresses. With their sleek style and glamorous air, these flowing gowns will definitely not be mistaken for wedding dresses.
It’s all in the details. White gowns with folds and pleats placed at strategic points can make the whole ensemble look anything but boring.

A Splash of Color
White gowns with vivid color prints make for amazing formal wear, especially for spring events. They give out a fun, fresh and flirty look that highlights the wearer’s youthfulness. Big floral prints in bright primary colors are starkly highlighted by the flowing white fabric canvas. These prints can make you stand out more than the most glittering colored gown in the hall.
Who Wears It Best
White is an excellent color for women with a darker complexion. If you have a tan or olive skin tone, white gowns can highlight your beautiful glow. Light colors help in making such skin tones glow, and a bright white gown may be just what is needed to make you look your best during a formal occasion.
White gowns are only as plain as the wearer makes them. You can put on a couple of accessories to spruce up your look or wear dramatic makeup. Tony Bowls Le Gala and Tony Bowls Paris showcase a handful of beautifully designed long white gowns, perfect for any formal night out. To Bare or Not to Bare…Those Shoulders
Thursday, March 25th, 2010When it comes to prom gowns, or any formal occasional outfit for the matter, every little detail counts. You will want to look your best during the fancy event. You do not want to stick out like a sore thumb, looking underdressed or overdressed. The worst case scenario is that you come out of your car wearing the ultimate fashion faux pas, and this is something we all want to avoid.
For the past decade, strapless gowns have become the foremost style of prom fashion. Once deemed as scandalous and inappropriate because it bared the entire neckline, arm and shoulder area. Tube-top gowns or varying designs have become the norm, to the point that the addition of straps and sleeves is now classified as edgy, perhaps even unconventional. Wearing a wide-strapped gown to your prom can be a hit or a miss depending on how you wear it. Here are a few tips to make sure you get a more positive turnout.

Looking good has to do with dressing in an outfit that fits your body type perfectly. The reason why strapless prom gowns have become so popular is because they look good no matter what shape your body is. Depending on the cut and style of the entire dress, a bare-necked ensemble can flatter the athletic builds, the full-figured, the petite and the statuesque. The same cannot be said for prom dresses that offer more ’support.’
The trick is to look well-proportioned. Halter tops work well with women that have broad shoulders as the V-shape of the front draws attention away from the shoulders and more toward the center of the body. Spaghetti straps, on the other hand, flatter those with narrow shoulders as they bring attention to the area just below the neck. Off shoulder prom gowns accentuate the collarbone and makes the bare shoulders look soft and delicate. Asymmetric necklines or prom dresses with one elegant strap are edgy looks that are best pulled off by those with lean or toned builds.

Glittering embellishments such as beads, crystals and rhinestones can steer attention right to the parts that you want people to see. Elaborate designs on the bust area of your single-strapped prom gown or a chunky rhinestone inset at the center of your halter dress can work to make this design idea happen.
Tony Bowls provides a wide selection of prom gowns in varying degrees of shoulder baring. Look around at TonyBowls.com and find the perfect dress to wear to your prom.
Spice Up The Dance Floor With Frills And Layers
Thursday, March 25th, 2010Are you looking to stand out at your prom? Long textured gowns with fabric frills or layers are the perfect style for girls who want to make a statement. Fun, flirty and effortlessly quirky, textured prom dresses are poised to be the avant-garde hit for this year’s prom season.
You can rock the dance floor in a flamenco dress-inspired gown. A long formal gown with a slinky, form-fitting bodice and several folded layers trailing down the bottom is the perfect formula for creating a stunning silhouette. The cut and style flatters girls with boyishly slender or athletic builds, providing fuller curves and making them look more feminine. A belt accent cinches the waist, making the body look even more alluring.
If you are on the petite side, you may want to choose more carefully when it comes to textured gowns. Too many frills and long, layered skirt areas can overpower your pretty pixie build and make you look smaller. If you wish to wear a textured prom dress, opt for a cocktail dress with an empire cut, where the fabric below runs in vertical rather than horizontal folds. Not only will the dress elongate your body; the cut also allows the fabric to move freely as you dance. Petite girls can still dress up in horizontally layered prom dresses, so long as the outfit is short and the folds are closely layered on top of each other.
Prints and patterns are this year’s prevailing prom trend. Even textured gowns are not exempt from this vogue. Long, layered prom gowns made from a shimmery line print gives off a cool, punk-inspired vibe, perfect for those with a flair for going against the grain of the teen status quo. Body hugging bandage gowns that show off glittering silver beading around the bodice, on the other hand, ooze with sex appeal. You are bound to make a few jaws drop as you slink across the dance hall in a beautifully designed textured gown.

Esteemed fashion designer Tony Bowls presents a number of frilly designs in his collection. Tony Bowls Le Gala is composed of prom gowns in vividly colored, gorgeous formal sheaths. Tony Bowls Shorts also provides a few fun, flirty layered outfits for girls who want to shake up the dance floor. For the Prom, Go for a Vibrant and Powerful Look
Thursday, March 25th, 2010The prom is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to be where everyone gets together, dresses up, and looks unusually glamorous. After all, history tells us that proms, way back from the first recorded promenades in the 1930s, were supposed to mark a set of turning points in young people’s lives: A first formal, dress-up dinner banquet and dance marking the day you all become respected members of society. It was an exciting time for girls and guys who all finally were leaving their early schooling to pursue bigger dreams, bigger things.
Fun, right? Yes, it’s still lots of fun, but it’s become increasingly challenging. For one, the simple job of picking a dress has gotten a bit harder. A prom today is about looking good, but too many wear dresses that look too much like one another. They employ cuts and other elements of style that are practically the same, so there aren’t a whole lot of choices. These dresses are routinely churned out by makers all trying to cash in on a fad, or trying to give girls something that everyone has seen before, but in a different shade of green or lavender.
Consider the prices as well: Most dresses are already priced far too aggressively this season. Worse, custom-made dresses also don’t always get the job done right either. This can make looking for something that stands out from the crowd without going overboard in cost very stressful.
Why not try on something really new, then? Picking vibrant, dynamic styles can help teens veer away from the usual formal-looking clothing. Styles such as those found in the Spring 2010 collection of Tony Bowls Paris can be quite the bold statement. Yet these warmly vivacious designs and styles can bring out the goddess in you.

Tony Bowls Paris 110719
Charmeuse dress style number 110729 is one example, using the blending of light and color to full effect. With its low V-cut neckline and body-hugging cut, this gown is not only pretty to look at in photos, or flattering to one’s figure. It also has its own brand of magic, especially when the dress is seen up close. Walk around in the dress and watch how people look at you. All eyes will be fixed on the bend and sway of the dress, its patterns reminiscent of a butterfly in flight.
It may take some getting used to, but yes, it is liberating being the star. And you deserve it, after all. So give it a shot!
