Masquerade
Monday, January 17th, 2011One of the most fun Prom themes out there is “Masquerade”. It is characteristic of exciting dresses and mysterious faces. A night with this theme is sure to leave you with a lot of memories, especially when you join in on the fun. Choose a dress that fits your spunky style and pair it with a matching mask. You can either buy one in a store, or have a mask-making party with a few friends and get pumped for the upcoming night!

Tony Bowls’ newest gallery, “Tony B”, has a lovely blue prom gown that fits perfectly with a “Masquerade” theme-2351124. This dress can make any girl feel like a princess with its delicate ruffles and beading, while staying mysterious and intriguing with the added mask. There are so many different options when it comes to choosing a mask for a dress such as this one. Not only can you choose one with a similar base color, but you could choose a color that matches some of the beads and pair it with some glamorous black jewelry.
Keep in mind not to let your face hide behind your mask all night; instead, show your beautiful face on this exciting night and let everyone see the natural glow in your skin simply from being happy and having fun.

Self confidence is key to every girl’s happiness, so wear what makes you feel great!

Romantic Evening
Monday, January 10th, 2011Prom night can be one of the most romantic and fun nights of your teenage life, so you should enjoy every second of it. Whether you have a date or not, this night will be one to remember.

Some Prom themes mirror the romantic mood with “A Night Under the Stars”, “Casablanca” or “A Night in Paris”. If your theme is similar to any of these, consider wearing an elegant dress that will also match the mood of both the theme and the night. 111C03 from Tony Bowls Collection is a striking beaded red dress that is perfect for any girl with a date and one of these Prom themes. The light shimmer on the dress is super sexy with a slit up the left leg. This dress is a classic red dress bombshell with a modern twist. It’s well paired with simple, yet glamorous, silver jewelry and heels to enhance the gorgeous shape it gives you. Make the most of your night in this beautiful gown, but most importantly, feel beautiful in this dress, or any other you choose.
Throughout the night, make sure you have a good time. If something goes wrong, try to brush it off-it’ll keep the mood happy and free like it should be. For most people, something goes wrong whether it’s a broken strap to a heel or the limo is late. The key is to keep your cool and you’ll be more confident than anyone around, and confidence is natural beauty.
Remember,
Self confidence is key to every girl’s happiness, so wear what makes you feel great!

Under the Sea
Monday, January 3rd, 2011Prom themes are close to being announced and if “Under the Sea” happens to be it, you have a wide range of dresses that can match your theme because the ocean is so colorful.

Tony Bowls Le Gala has a pretty blue dress that represents the ocean’s familiar color-111504. This mermaid style gown will allow you to feel like a beautiful sea goddess for the night as you dance the night away. The ruffled layers seem like waves as they cascade down the legs from the hips and flow gracefully beneath your body. The simple nature of the dress being one color is so elegant when accented by jewels on the bust.
A personal favorite of mine is TBE11148 from the Tony Bowls Evenings gallery. Just like the first dress, it is a gorgeous color of blue which complements the theme of a beautiful blue ocean. The swirls of blue, purple, and green below the waist of the dress has an almost paradise appeal to it because of the multiple colors. Much like paradise, it is full of vibrant life and attracts the eye naturally. This dress has large rhinestones on the bust, but the coloring of them and the dress make it appear as if they are seashells near the water’s edge on a beach. It is a wonderful dress for an “Under the Sea” Prom theme, because you’ll be dressed for the theme without being over-the-top.
“Under the Sea” is just one of many possible Prom themes, and these are just two of many different dresses you have to choose from. Listen to your heart when it comes to picking out your dress because you know your style the best, but don’t shy away from opinions from friends and family because they can really tell you what suits you best.
If you haven’t already, check out Tony Bowls’ new gallery-Tony B. It’s full of fabulous dresses that scream Prom. They’re young, flirty, and ready to be danced in!

Prom themes!
Tuesday, December 28th, 2010Prom is in just a few more months, which means high schools are going to be releasing the theme of Prom really soon. For many high schools, there is a vote at the beginning of the year for the Prom theme. Try to remember back to those choices and maybe narrow down your dress search to those themes until the actual theme is released. This way the decision for your dress is slightly easier when the time comes.

Themes can add a lot of flare to your dress, and Tony Bowls has a dress for every possible theme you could choose from. Whether it’s “Under the Sea”, “Roaring 20’s”, or “Masquerade”, the right dress is out there waiting for you to find it! Prom can be a little bit more fun when you and friends dress to the theme. It’ll also be Spring time, which means there will be plenty of colorful dresses to choose from. If you like the classic look, there are a lot of different styled black dresses as well! Tony Bowls Evenings is a great gallery to start the search for some really elegant dresses, and Paris and Le Gala really get you into the Spring mood! A perfect example is 111508 from the Le Gala gallery. The light green is fresh and new, while the butterflies give it a fun and playful look.
Whatever your theme is, you’re sure to find a dress that is perfect for the occasion. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be giving you examples of festive dresses from Tony Bowls that would fit perfectly with some major Prom themes. So, get familiar with some of your favorite dresses because one of them could be perfect for your high school’s Prom!

Short and Long Dresses
Monday, December 20th, 2010Hopefully everyone is all settled in for the Winter Holidays and New Year’s with those fun dresses and ready to have a good time with friends and family! End of the year holiday parties are a great way to get into a dancing mood for that all so famous, Prom night. Juniors and seniors, you have a lot to look forward to in the next few months with all your searching for the perfect dress-it’s quite an adventure!

Prom is the biggest dance of the school year and the attire is much different than that of the other dances. It is much more dressy, and generally consists of long dresses rather than short ones. This has become a sort of tradition amongst girls for prom, possibly because they want to feel a little more sophisticated for one night. Whatever the reason, long dresses are gorgeous. But you don’t have to buy a long dress just because many others are doing it. If you prefer to show off your beautiful long legs for the night, there are tons of flirty short dresses to choose from in Tony Bowls Shorts. There are both classic and new styles in this selection, so start looking now because the process could be lengthy with all those beautiful dresses to choose from! The other Tony Bowls galleries contain long, sophisticated dresses with fun colors and embellishments. Many of them have a sexy, but conservative slit up one leg to add a little extra flare to the dress and show off a little leg while still wearing that long dress. Others might have a cute bow that will accentuate your waist. There are a lot of unique assets to each individual dress-you just have to find the right one for you!

After you figure out whether you want a short or a long dress this Prom season, get started on the search! The sooner the better, especially if you’re Prom is coming up faster than most. Some start as early as March! Check those school calendars and make sure you have enough time to search for that perfect dress, order it, and do any altering a few weeks in advance; you don’t want to cut it too close to the dance day.

Prom!
Tuesday, December 14th, 2010Even though it’s only December, Prom is coming up faster than you think. Pretty soon it’ll be time to put on those fabulous dresses and have a fun night out with all your friends!
With Prom being so close, it’s time to start searching for that perfect dress if you haven’t already! There are a lot of things to keep in mind when searching for your dress. First, what day is your Prom? If you have until April or May, you’re able to visit a few stores that carry Tony Bowls prom dresses to try on and decide which styles you like best. Another thing to keep in mind is the theme of your Prom. Every high school has a theme to it’s hottest dance of the year, so if you’re feeling in the mood, why not dress accordingly? As a junior, it can be a little nerve-racking trying to pick out the right dress because you aren’t sure what other juniors are going to wear-long or short, sparkly or print. Try not to think so much about what others are going to wear. Instead, envision your perfect dress and go from there, but don’t be afraid of trying something new! You just might find that a dress you never would have thought of could be “the one”. For all you seniors, it’s difficult to decide sometimes between a short dress or a long dress, but just go with your gut feeling. When you see the dress, you’ll know! It won’t matter if it’s short or long-you’ll have a fun night either way!

So get started on the search for that perfect Prom dress, because Prom is closer than you might think and you may have to factor in a couple weeks for alterations on the dress. There are a lot of new dresses for Spring 2011 in each of the Tony Bowls gallery that are full of classic and vibrant dresses! You could even have a girls night and invite some friends over and look for dresses together to get in the Prom spirit!

Prom Sexy: Smoky Eyes, Nude Lips!
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010For any gown-worthy occasion such as a prom, you should be nothing short of fabulous. It’s always fun picking the perfect dress and the right accessories, but remember that although your gown may turn heads, the crowd will mostly be looking at your face!

Create eye drama
Here’s one of our favorite looks: smoky eyes and nude lips! Nude lips in contrast with strong, dark eye makeup makes a bold, sexy statement. No other lip color plays off the smoky eye quite like a nude lip. This type of make-up can also literally match with anything that you are wearing. If you’re all about eye drama and subtle lips, then this is the best look for you. Highlighting your eyes always completes your entire look, so make sure you learn the smoky eye trick.
Here are some recommended colors: Dark shades of chocolate, jade and deep plum. Creating the smoky eye look can be tricky, but no, there’s no need to run to the nearest makeup artist. Practice it yourself! Line your eyes with black pencil liner, follow it up with a black liquid liner and top it off with a layer of smudged shadow. This will make the makeup last longer. If you really make your eyes the focal point, add some dramatic colors like aqua blue or green. No matter what colors you choose, make sure you pick those that complement your skin tone and eye color. Also, remember that the key is blending in the eye shadow flawlessly. If you do use several colors, it’s crucial to choose the right combination of light and dark shades. Top it off with a mascara to make your eyes look bigger.
Go for nude
Now, the lips. In order to get the right shade of nude lipstick, stay within two shades of your natural skin tone. This simply means that you should not get a dark lip shade when you have a lighter skin tone, and do not wear a light lip shade when you have darker skin. Beiges and nudes are the perfect choice when you want to make your eye makeup really pop out. Apply the nude shade to lips, then top off with gloss! Whatever you do, remember to keep it balanced. If your lips are strong, your eyes should be low-key, and vice versa.

Why Not Wear White?
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010While there always seems to be a good number of ladies wearing black in formal events, there would rarely be anyone in white. Some might think white is too bright a color for formal evening affairs. If it doesn’t look like a wedding gown, it can wash the wearer out into the background. The vulture-like fashion police, notoriously known for their unforgiving acerbic wit, might say they couldn’t tell where the gown ends and the table cloth begins.
This all begs the question, however: Why not wear white? Like any other color, with the right design and execution, it has the potential to look stunning and elegant. Just as white has the tendency to blend the wearer into background, which is a bad thing, it can also make her stand out as a visage of beauty and fashion-forward stylishness.

It’s All in the Details
Shine and shimmer are in this season, and white gowns are no exception. Tony Bowls takes it up a notch by creating designs with sparkling crystal embellishments tastefully incorporated in the bodice of the dresses. With their sleek style and glamorous air, these flowing gowns will definitely not be mistaken for wedding dresses.
It’s all in the details. White gowns with folds and pleats placed at strategic points can make the whole ensemble look anything but boring.

A Splash of Color
White gowns with vivid color prints make for amazing formal wear, especially for spring events. They give out a fun, fresh and flirty look that highlights the wearer’s youthfulness. Big floral prints in bright primary colors are starkly highlighted by the flowing white fabric canvas. These prints can make you stand out more than the most glittering colored gown in the hall.
Who Wears It Best
White is an excellent color for women with a darker complexion. If you have a tan or olive skin tone, white gowns can highlight your beautiful glow. Light colors help in making such skin tones glow, and a bright white gown may be just what is needed to make you look your best during a formal occasion.
White gowns are only as plain as the wearer makes them. You can put on a couple of accessories to spruce up your look or wear dramatic makeup. Tony Bowls Le Gala and Tony Bowls Paris showcase a handful of beautifully designed long white gowns, perfect for any formal night out. Nabbing The Perfect Prom Look
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010Don’t count on your prom dress doing all the work for you. You may have the most stylish gown in school, but that won’t mean much if your overall look does not complement its sleekness and elegance.
Prom night is set to be one of the most special occasions in every teenage girl’s life. It is important to look your very best for the entire experience to play out exactly as you’ve pictured it, glamorous, romantic, and fun.

Eyebrows and Nails
There are certain rituals which you simply cannot pass up before your prom. If you are not the type who regularly has her eyebrows and nails done, now is the time for you to do so. The day of your prom, take an early trip to your favorite salon and have your eyebrows shaped to perfectly frame your face, while also having your nails freshly cleaned and polished. A pair of well-shaped eyebrows can do wonders in brightening up your face. Your look can become ten times softer and more feminine with just a few well-placed plucks. As for the nails, a dainty French tip would be the default choice although deep solid colors are quite acceptable. Just make sure that the color does not clash with your prom dress.
Hair, Makeup and Accessories
Depending on your body type and the style of dress, you may opt to have your hair loosely done up or trailing down in effortless looking waves.
Your makeup should match your outfit. No, we don’t mean you should put on eye shadow in the exact shade of your dress (that is so 30 years ago). We mean you should do your make-up to complement what you are wearing. If you are going to wear an elaborately designed number, with chunky rhinestones or a vivid print, it is best to keep to a simple soft look.
As for accessories, keep it to a minimum. Dress watch and earrings, tops. If your prom gown already sparkles with crystals at the bosom, don’t add an equally sparkly necklace. Basically, the more elaborate your prom outfit, the less jewelry you can wear.

To Bare or Not to Bare…Those Shoulders
Thursday, March 25th, 2010When it comes to prom gowns, or any formal occasional outfit for the matter, every little detail counts. You will want to look your best during the fancy event. You do not want to stick out like a sore thumb, looking underdressed or overdressed. The worst case scenario is that you come out of your car wearing the ultimate fashion faux pas, and this is something we all want to avoid.
For the past decade, strapless gowns have become the foremost style of prom fashion. Once deemed as scandalous and inappropriate because it bared the entire neckline, arm and shoulder area. Tube-top gowns or varying designs have become the norm, to the point that the addition of straps and sleeves is now classified as edgy, perhaps even unconventional. Wearing a wide-strapped gown to your prom can be a hit or a miss depending on how you wear it. Here are a few tips to make sure you get a more positive turnout.

Looking good has to do with dressing in an outfit that fits your body type perfectly. The reason why strapless prom gowns have become so popular is because they look good no matter what shape your body is. Depending on the cut and style of the entire dress, a bare-necked ensemble can flatter the athletic builds, the full-figured, the petite and the statuesque. The same cannot be said for prom dresses that offer more ’support.’
The trick is to look well-proportioned. Halter tops work well with women that have broad shoulders as the V-shape of the front draws attention away from the shoulders and more toward the center of the body. Spaghetti straps, on the other hand, flatter those with narrow shoulders as they bring attention to the area just below the neck. Off shoulder prom gowns accentuate the collarbone and makes the bare shoulders look soft and delicate. Asymmetric necklines or prom dresses with one elegant strap are edgy looks that are best pulled off by those with lean or toned builds.

Glittering embellishments such as beads, crystals and rhinestones can steer attention right to the parts that you want people to see. Elaborate designs on the bust area of your single-strapped prom gown or a chunky rhinestone inset at the center of your halter dress can work to make this design idea happen.
Tony Bowls provides a wide selection of prom gowns in varying degrees of shoulder baring. Look around at TonyBowls.com and find the perfect dress to wear to your prom.
