Winter Formals
Monday, November 22nd, 2010As the holidays come and go, if you’re a high school student, you also have another dance to worry about. Whatever your school may call it-Winter Formal, MORP, or something else-it’s coming up faster than you think and Tony Bowls is here to help.
Winter Formal is that middle ground between Homecoming and Prom that presents every high school student with an incredibly fun night to look forward to. Since many are anxious for Prom, the Winter Formal will be sure to let you satisfy that ever present need to dance the night away. For some schools, this winter dance is MORP-much like Sadie Hawkins-where the girls ask the guys to the dance. Girls, don’t be shy to ask that cute guy you’ve had your eye on the past couple of weeks. If you’d rather go with friends, that’s always one of my favorite ways to attend dances. It allows you to have fun dancing with friends, as well as with cute guys that went with their friends. Besides, you’ll be wearing your newest Tony Bowls dress and feeling better than ever!

Your confidence will soar with the newest addition to your Tony Bowls dress collection. The type of dress most people wear varies from school to school. However, if the girls at your school are more likely to wear long dresses, don’t be afraid to show off your beautiful legs in a short dress; if the girls at your school prefer short dresses, let your elegance shine with a longer dress! Either one is sure to look amazing, as long as you feel your absolute best in it.
Take a look in Tony Bowls Shorts, Paris, and Le Gala for some of the hottest dresses for Winter dances. They are fun, flirty, and an exciting introduction to what you will be wearing later in the year for Prom.
Remember- Self confidence is key to every girl’s happiness, so wear what makes you feel great!-Robin
Get Gorgeous In A Green Gown
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010Green is definitely in. And we’re not just talking about the fact that the green movement is here to stay. Yes, with all the eco-friendly fabrics, organic products, green building and design, eco-conscious lifestyles and recycled products on the rise, the color green has definitely gone a long way from just being a mere reminder of trees and plants and nature. The green trend has gone beyond clothing, extending its fabulousness to accessories and even makeup!

This summer we’ve seen an army of gorgeous greens in runways – there are deep greens, glitzy greens, army greens, mossy greens and bright and pale greens. We’ve even seen green-themed weddings! With so many pretty green prints around, it’s fun for every woman (and girl) to play around with fantastic shades of green this season!
Working this shade into your wardrobe isn’t that hard. Various shades of green are more carefree and subdued, and we’re thinking of sleek, minimal style gowns for those fabulous evening affairs. If you want to take it up a notch, you can mix green with other colors, but by itself, green is an excellent choice for a gown.
Now since it’s summer, we highly recommend minimal makeup style. With minimal makeup, the skin will able to breathe better, and although going minimal makes everything look simple and effortless, the truth is applying this type of makeup can be more demanding than it would seem at first glance! But don’t worry, all you need to emphasize are your eyes and lips, because the focus of the evening should be YOU, making a statement in your gorgeous green gown.
Now here are our two favorites at the moment for wearing a green gown: the one-shoulder style and the strapless.
One of the sexiest and fresh trends of summer seems to be the one-shoulder dress/gown. You can never go wrong making waves in a one-shoulder number. Any shade of green will do, but add flirty details such as ruffles!
On the other hand, when you choose to go for a strapless green gown, fit is crucial. To make sure you get the perfect fit, raise your arms, bend over, and move or twist your body to make sure you’re firmly sheathed in your dress. Strapless gowns emphasize your shoulders, arms and back, so this is perfect for toned upper bodies.
Look fabulous in your green gown and have a good time!

Dare to Wear Yellow: The Make-up And Shoes to Wear
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010There’s no other color that represents summer more than yellow, and we love yellow. Yellow evokes fun, femininity and fearlessness. It is a color that immediately grabs your attention. We love its eye-catching power — bright, loud and bold.
Fashionistas and designers alike warn against wearing yellow because it’s prone to mishaps (think yellow and black combined and you’ll look like a bumble bee. Yellow and orange is rather garish, as they tend to clash) but if you’re daring enough to wear a yellow dress or gown, cheers to you! Learning how to wear yellow will not only up your fashion intelligence points, it will also give you the attention you deserve. Why? Because with the right makeup and shoes, you can pull off the yellow and balance the loud and the mellow.

Shoes to wear
For a yellow dress or gown, we’d go for white, silver, nude or brown, but since the first three are somewhat expected, we suggest you go with a sheer or glittery brown for the dramatic effect. A nice shade of brown paired with yellow look classic together.
However, if you want to go bold in your choice of shoe color, try fuchsia. It’s a fabulous, cheery color that pairs surprisingly well with citrus yellow shades. Just remember that if you won’t go bold, light, neutral-colored shoes, such as nude, cream, white or clear are your best choices.
Makeup to wear
Here’s the thing about yellow: It’s a very selective color. But if you happen to be one of the lucky women who can pull it off, then you can look fabulous with ease. Here’s a tip: When wearing a yellow dress, choose makeup in the warm color family such as gold tones and peaches. If you have green or brown eyes, a green shimmery shadow would look great too. Darker eyes will benefit from shimmering gold or lilac. Remember, if you’re wearing pastel yellow, opt for brighter eye colors. For bolder yellow gowns, go soft – beige or pale greens.
We also love the smoky eye effect – it always compliments a yellow dress! There are many options for summer eye makeup perfect for a yellow dress. Have fun experimenting with a combination that will work best on you. For more help, visit your local cosmetic counter for a mini-makeover and get some suggestions from a make-up artist.
