Things To Do To Be Pageant Ready
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010Planning to join a beauty pageant? Documentaries and pageant reality shows provide a glimpse of just how cut-throat the environment is behind the scenes of the event. Natural good looks can only get you so far. Before you sign up for a stake at the crown, remember that a pageant is still essentially a competition. And just like any other competition, preparations have to be made to make sure you have the best chance of winning.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Practice your walk, your talk, and the way you put on your makeup. Do that exercise where you walk around the room while balancing a book on your head. It really does help in maintaining good posture. Get used to walking in heels and in a flowing, floor-length gown.

Prepare Yourself Mentally
Look up on what is going on in current events and shape your opinions. Practice answering in a strong, clear tone that reflects your clear thinking. Know your platform inside and out. You never know what you are going to be asked.
Organize Your Stuff
On the day of the pageant, make sure you have everything set. Keep your clothes hung up so they won’t get wrinkles and you can easily find them and change into them during the event. Keep your cosmetics organized too. This way, you won’t stress out during quick wardrobe changes and makeup retouches.
Look Your Best
Your looks will be your main asset as you enter the pageant stage. Everything will lie on your first impression on the judges. You may be too far from the audience for them to scrutinize your appearance in detail but plucked eyebrows can go a long way in enhancing your beauty and nothing can make you feel more well groomed than having clean and freshly done nails. Sleep early to avoid bags under your eyes. And every time you are on stage, smile.
Before joining a pageant, do your research on pageant styling tips. When it comes to makeup, too little may make you look plain and washed out, while too much can make you look tacky. Search online for a good “pageant hairstyle”. Look at photos of all the current Miss USA and Miss America contestants for ideas on how to do your hair for the event. It may be best to get a gown from an established pageant dress couturier. Dressing beauty queens since 2006, Tony Bowls is one such fashion designer. His latest collection showcases stunning gowns fit for the pageant stage.
